The Nata Village workers

Filed under: School — lstoupe at 12:46 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2008

Once again the Nata Village workers and volunteers are still helping out the poor and needy with health problems that need to be checked.

Albino( white skinned people) are caught by a skin decease running around. The skin decease is called Solar Keratosis and it hits the people hard when they get it. This skin decease is in Botswana a small village where they have very little or not medical access. You get the decease from being out in the sun. To be out in the sun for many people is very dangerous.

Not many people have the money to make it to the city to go to the hospital and get medication. No one has transportation either.

I looked Solar Kertosis up and the symptons are having small scaly patches that are covering parts of your body that have been showed to the sun. Parts of your body where you will find this symptom is mainly on your face, ears, your head if you are bald, hands and arms that have been shown to the sun for a long period of time. Solar Keratosis can turn into skin cancer if you don’t get it treated at the right time.

I think that this symptom is really bad and not many of the people who live in the village Botswana can’t afford to pay transportation to get taken to a hospital and have to pay for medication. I think we can help these people with the decease by donating money and medications that are able to help the people for this decease. This isn’t a good decease to have and we can try to help before it spreads much worse.

If you have any different ideas that we can do to help these people leave a comment.

The Less Fortunate

Filed under: School — lstoupe at 12:58 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2008

I was on my Igoogle account and I was reading a few issues and I came across one that got my attention. The paragraph of writing was about the Less Fortunate.

The Department of Social and Community Development and the Nata Village Trust are helping the less fortunate orphans and the needy with their school semesters. The less fortunate and the needy aren’t able to afford many things right now. They are able to attend school but they can’t afford food. The workers fed over 60 children and took the children to a shopping center and gave each child 100 United States dollars to buy new clothes for the starting of school.

This is an important topic because breakfast is the most important meal of the day which not many kids eat or parents can afford. They are feeding the children to try to get them good grades to succeed.

I think that it was a good idea to give breakfast for each child each morning. If they weren’t given food they probably wouldn’t be able to eat breakfast and get a good education and have a good day at school.
The Nata clinic are weighing children and making sure that each child is being taken good care of by their parents. The parents will take the child once a month to a weight station and weigh the child. The Government has being giving the parents a food basket and baby formula is the child is in good health.
The Nata clinic are weighing the children to see for good health, being fed well and, being taken good care of. The parents aren’t able to pay for the expense of the fees to buy foods, and to make sure their children are in good health.
I also think that this is a good idea because it’s always good to know if your in good health or if there is a problem with you’re body. Letting the Nata village know that the children are safe is also a good thing because they know who is not being fed and if their in good condition to do anything.
The Nata village and clinic are doing this to help out the community by being safe, and being healthy.

Copyright Laws

Filed under: School — lstoupe at 10:44 am on Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Copyright laws… I’m sure some of you have heard a little bit of it but do you know what it means? Copyright laws have been around for a while. It’s a basic rule that everyone should follow.

When you make a video, a song, (painting, art, sculpture, audio, book, music, etc…) any picture that you created once you put it up anywhere its yours and its called copyright. No one can take it with out asking permission or they can’t make money off of it (without you making profit). When you ask permission to use the work they have created they decide how you use it. Say if I make a picture and you ask me to borrow it I can say you can only use a small piece of  it and you pay me a certain amount and you can NOT make money off the work I have made. Imagine no law and you writing a whole novel and someone else going and taking all the credit and money. Think of all the problems this would cause in the world because one law wasn’t made.

Copyright lasts a very long time after the creator’s death which is 50 years.  After copyright is over it’s under public domain. Public domain means when the work you have created is no longer copy right and you’re aloud to take the creation and use it in any sort of way and not have to ask permission.

Copy right doesn’t mean that you can’t touch any of the work the creator has made. There is another law called fair use. Fair use lets us take certain parts of the work but like again… you can’t make any money off of it. You can take a chapter of a book and use it but you can’t go and take the whole book. Fair use is basically the same for every creation. You can’t take a picture and go post it up somewhere and take all the credit for the picture. Another one would be movie previews on TV. When you see movie previews up for about ten seconds its because the creator is letting you see a sneak peek of a movie that is coming out. Some people like to create pictures, videos, paintings, etc… And let people take their creation because they want people to take some of their work and let it not be untouched and useless.

That is called creative commons. For you to want your work to be noticed and parts of it taken you have to register your work. I think Creative commons is a smart idea because many people might want parts of their work taken.

Tuesday

Filed under: Friends — lstoupe at 10:01 am on Wednesday, May 21, 2008

At five a bunch of us went out to Taiya’s house to hang out with her. We all went quadding and it was pretty fun. Me and Taiya went quadding and she forgot the the quad didn’t have good brakes so we drove into the bush. I ended up falling into a thorn bush and getting them stuck in my skin but other then that it was still fun. After that we just hung out and then we went quadding in a swamp. Me and Paige didn’t go in we just drove the dirt bike. The quad got stuck soo much and everyone was soaking wet higher than their waist.

got to go.

What I know to be True

Filed under: School — lstoupe at 1:04 pm on Tuesday, May 13, 2008

To me… truth means to actually tell the truth. Truth is hard, and mostly hidden. Usually many people lie to get out of telling the truth. Truth is hard and sometimes scary because most people would rather lie than tell the truth to take the easy way out. Lying can sometimes be a good thing to stop people from getting hurt. Thats like preventing a friendship from being broken up.

Truth does hurt a lot sometimes more than lie s. You like hearing good things about you but why would you want to know the truth when its just all bad things. In my life I know that life isn’t very easy to just live and get what you want when you want. You have to work hard to earn your own belongings. Life is also a big responsibility because you have to look after everything that you own.

There are reasons to back up peoples stories on why they lie. Lets just say that truth has a really hard meaning. How many people do you think lie in the world?

HeyMy name is Logyn and I live in a very small town called

Snow
Lake that is surrounded by a lot of bush. Our teacher Mr. Fisher has asked us to write a blog post introducing ourselves to readers. When I just got into grade seven Mr. Fisher showed us about blogging and what it is. I find it really cool and definitely a lot more fun than doing actual book work.

Since I live in a really small town it’s usually hard to find things to do when you’re actually having fun. I hang out with my friends most of the time, go quadding, tubing, and ski-dooing.

I have two parents and two sisters and I am the youngest. My oldest sister graduated 2 years ago and lives in Thompson.

Thats a bit about me that you know
